As a comprehensive support agency for women and their families, WellMama provides a variety of pregnancy and postpartum support to women, their families, and health care professionals. Our services include:
- Mama-to-Mama Peer Support:
Trained volunteer supportmamas, many of whom have recovered from emotional illnesses during or after pregnancy, provide information, referrals, compassion, and non-judgmental listening to mothers and family members. If you live in Lane County, simply leave a message on our toll-free warm line at 1-800-896-0410. We return calls within 24 hours. You can also contact us by email. We also provide referrals for fathers experiencing depression or anxiety. If you do not live in Lane County, call Postpartum Support International at 1-800-944-4PPD.
- Support Groups: WellMama provides free pregnancy and postpartum support groups in Eugene and Springfield, including two daytime groups at Birth to Three, two evening groups in Eugene, and one evening group in Springfield. These support groups provide a safe place to share the challenges of pregnancy and early parenting, connect with other mothers, and learn tools for wellness. Support groups are open to women and their family members. Babies under a year or so are also welcome.
- Professional training: WellMama provides ongoing in-service trainings for healthcare and social service professionals. The trainings help clinicians understand both basic and advanced concepts in screening, prevention, identification, and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and postpartum depression. WellMama can tailor individualized seminars of any length to the specific requirements of each discipline or agency. Continuing education units are provided for most healthcare professionals. Call 1-800-896-0410 for more information.
- Case consultation: WellMama staff volunteer their time for case consultations with any professional working with pregnant and postpartum families. WellMama also offers quarterly professional networking opportunities to review the latest research and staff individual cases.
