Support for Men with Postpartum Depression

WellMama’s programs are not just for mothers. Fathers are also welcome to call our hotline (1-800-896-0410), and we can provide referrals and support for men with postpartum depression or other mood disorders. 1 in 10 men experience postpartum depression.

Symptoms of postpartum depression in men:

  • Exhaustion
  • Losing your sense of self
  • Anxiousness
  • Panic
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Irritability
  • Anger
  • Withdrawing from the things you previously enjoyed
  • Increase in drinking

PostpartumMen is an organization that promotes self-help and provides information for fathers with concerns about depression, anxiety, or other emotions after the birth of a child. They have a wonderful website designed specifically to help men with postpartum depression.

Depression isn’t something a man can simply “get over.” It’s a health condition that needs to be treated. Without effective treatment, it can result in damaging, long-term consequences for a man, his child, and his entire family. But with proper treatment and support, men can fully recover from PPND.
